NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC international video  formats conversions

 

 

      There are 3 major video system over the whole world, namely NTSC, PAL and SECAM.

NTSC  (National Television System Committee) : A video standard used 525 lines / frame and 60 fields / s . ( Each video frame is split into two interlacing fields  ) . Countries use this system includes: Bahama Islands, Bolivia, Canada, Central America, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Peru, Surinam, Taiwan, Philippines, USA, Venezuela, etc.

PAL  (Phase Alternating Line) : A video standard uses a wider channel bandwidth than NTSC which allows for better picture quality. PAL runs on 625 lines / frame and 50 fields / s . Countries use this system includes: Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Great Britian, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, new Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, etc.

SECAM  (SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire ) A video system uses the same bandwidth as PAL but transmits the colour information sequentially. SECAM runs on 625 lines / frame and 50 fields / s . Countries use this system includes: Bulgaria, France, Guyana, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Monaco, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, etc

    Video tapes recorded at different video systems are not compatible with different VCR and TV set  ( unless you have a multi-system TV and VCR set ) . We provide services of video conversion, converting between these video systems on video tapes so that you could play tapes sent from foreign country  or send tapes to foreign country.

    We take the following kinds of video tapes, in  NTSC, PAL, or SECAM:  Super VHS ( NTSC only ), VHS, VHS-C , Digital 8, Hi-8 mm, 8 mm, Betamax , and convert to either PAL or NTSC video system on a VHS tape. ( NTSC to PAL, PAL to NTSC, SECAM to PAL, SECAM to NTSC ) . We use a real time conversion box for the video recording on VHS tape. As noted in the Tape to DVD  section, the video details and motion smoothness is not as good as from digital conversion.    We do PAL/NTSC DVD formats conversion also. The way we do is to perform standards conversion on the digital video MPEG2 files and re-author the DVD. The menu designs and chapter links will not be the same as the original. The price is the same as Tape to DVD. You don't have to do the DVD formats conversions if you just want to watch the DVD. There are plenty of DVD players available ( such as The Philips DVP5140 ) on the market which can play both NTSC and PAL on your NTSC TV. ( They are Region code free also with a little programming . You may search the web for the programming instructions. Note: Not all models can be programmed )
